Maryvale was first developed in the 1950s from farmland and later declared as an "urban village" of Phoenix. This area in the southwest valley is bounded by Interstate 17 and Grand Avenue to the east and Interstate 10 to the south. It's adjacent to the thriving city of Glendale to the north. Homes in Maryvale are generally more affordable than homes in other urban areas of Phoenix.

Maryvale Baseball Park is the spring training home of the Milwaukee Brewers. The 10,000 seat stadium also hosts many of the neighborhood's special events as well as adult and youth community baseball leagues.
